Service Description

Class Duration: 5 Days Course Hours: 9am-5:00pm This course is designed for a Public Information Officer (PIO) assigned to an incident as a member of an All-Hazards Incident Management Team (AHIMT) and local IMTs, as well as for the PIO assigned to an incident as an Assistant PIO in a variety of capacities. This course will help participants develop a strong set of core PIO skills and the ability to apply them within the context of an AHIMT. This course is also distinct from other information function courses in that it combines elements from both the basic and advanced functions to concentrate training on the fundamental duties and responsibilities of the PIO in an all-hazards environment. The course material does not assume or require experience as a PIO, but also is not a basic PIO course. This course is an instructor-led training that supports learning through discussion, lecture, and active participation in multiple exercises that provides a realistic, scenario-driven approach to mastering the skills required of a PIO. Exercises, simulations, discussions, and a final exam enable participants to process and apply their new knowledge. PREREQUISITES: S-0100 An Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100 IS-0200 Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, ICS 200 E/L/G 0300 Intermediate Incident Command System for Expanding Incidents, ICS 300 E/L/G 0400 Advanced Incident Command System for Complex Incidents, ICS 400 IS-0700 An Introduction to the National Incident Management System IS-0800 National Response Framework (NRF) REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS *Please Read Carefully* To register for the class, please complete the following process: 1) Click “Book Now” on this webpage and follow the instructions to reserve a seat for the class. 2) Upload required prerequisites through the “Book Now” process NOTE: Students will not be registered for the class unless they provide the requested prerequisites. 3) Once you have uploaded your prerequisites, complete the payment process. 4) Once your prerequisites have been verified, you will be provided a link and coupon code to register for the class through FEMA. NOTE: If registration through FEMA is not completed, students cannot attend class.


Cancellation Policy

To cancel your registration and receive a refund you need to contact SS Fire Training 35-calendar days prior to the first day of the class. A $15 refund processing fee will be deducted from the total refund amount for each class canceled. However, if you cancel your registration within 30-calendar days of the first day of class you can carryover your registration towards any class we offer now or in the future. You will not lose your class registration. Just contact us to cancel and/or to apply your cancelled registration towards another SS Fire Training class.
