Service Description
Class Duration: 1 Day 8:30am-5pm Prerequisites-- None All students that attend this course will receive a 20% discount toward any S-244 Field Observer course provided by Southern Sierra Fire Training. *No agency affiliation is needed for this course. This course is taught using the NWCG curriculum *A course completion certificate will be issued from Southern Sierra Fire Training for this course. Navigating with a compass and map is an essential skill for many incident positions. Even with technology, such as Global Positioning System(GPS) receivers, map and compass skills are still needed. Confidence with navigation skills comes with practice and proficiency. This course allows students to practice navigating with topographic maps, compass, GPS, and electronic navigation applications such as Avenza and more. The course will also cover the use of clinometers as well as types of geographic location systems, such as latitude/longitude and Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM). *PMS 475 is required to be qualified as a Field Observer (FOBS) through CICCS.
Cancellation Policy
To cancel your registration and receive a refund you need to contact SS Fire Training 35-calendar days prior to the first day of the class. A $15 refund processing fee will be deducted from the total refund amount for each class canceled. However, if you cancel your registration within 30-calendar days of the first day of class you can carryover your registration towards any class we offer now or in the future. You will not lose your class registration. Just contact us to cancel and/or to apply your cancelled registration towards another SS Fire Training class.
